lesson 6 10/19/17 Response on "Individualism vs collectivism"

The video called individualism vs collectivism made me think a lot about society and culture. The professor told some everyday situations that happens a lot, and how each group (individualism and collectivism) deals with it.
Japan has a collectivity society, so if one person gets in trouble, everybody gets in trouble too. In this video, we saw that after a game, the Japanese players decided to celebrate and they got drunk. The players were all drunk in the car when it got pulled over. Everybody got in trouble and lost their driving privileges for live. After that, many people that were in their social life decided to apologize in public. We can only see that happening on a Collective Society.
The United States and many other cultures, have an individualism society. That means that they don't feel responsible for anything that happens to people around them, or they care, but not enough to make a public speech about it. Call it selfish but it’s just cultural customs.
Welcoming a collectivity person into an individualism society can be challenging. The saying "Do your own thing" can be confusing. The teachers must offer all the necessary support to make the transition a little bit easier.
